What is STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

We include numeracy and digital skills within our definition of STEM. Both of these are vital to enable everyone to participate successfully in society as well as across all jobs, careers and occupations.

Young STEM Leaders

In our school, we're thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for all second level children through the Young Stem Leaders program. This initiative, aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence, aims to develop our students' skills in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) while fostering their leadership abilities.

As part of this program, Primary 5 students will have the chance to showcase their understanding of STEM concepts by teaching a STEM lesson to their peers. It's a great way for them to build knowledge, boost confidence, and develop their communication skills.

Moving on, Primary 6 pupils will take their turn by sharing their knowledge with another class, promoting collaboration and teamwork.

Finally, Primary 7 will shine as they host a vibrant STEM fair, where they'll demonstrate their understanding of STEM through engaging activities and projects.

Through these engaging and hands-on experiences, our students will not only deepen their own understanding of STEM subjects but also develop their abilities to lead and inspire others. The Young Stem Leaders program is an integral part of our commitment to providing high-quality education and empowering our students for their future success.
